I spoke to Dr Jay KK9L about doing repairs on amateur radio equipment. He said that he'd do his best to repair equipment for us amateurs. He does ask that you bring along the service manual for the rig needing repairs. N9VXQ

Hi there, glad to meet you via e mail.

The one thing that is very important is that I need the schematic. I can work on them but without the schematics I can't trace anything. In most all cases the portables should be returned to the factory. I will take a look at them and I have a rule ( no fixie no chargie ) I will ask you to pay for the shipping if I can't fix them. Just a little background . I have been in the repair game for 34 years I don't know everything but I have a lot of common sense. We spend our winters in Arizona and have people run the store in Ohio. They UPS the equip to me here, I repair and send it back. It seems to work ok that way. Feel free to ask any questions you have. Here is my address if you decide to send them to me:
