Boone County Amateur Radio Association QRM :

JULY 2002

Thanks to everyone who made Field Day 2002 a great success. 14 operators from the local group and a visitor or two participated in the event held on June 22 and 23 at the home of Darrin, N9JPI and his lovely family. The heat took it's toll on a lot of folks, but everyone who participated in the event had a great time. If you missed it, I assure you, you were missed, but more events will be coming soon.

The advisory committee made up of JR, (N9JSS), Jimmie, (N9VXQ), Tom, (KB9UWR), and Nick, (KB9YUF) is expanding by 2 members if you have an interest in serving in this capacity please let us know. The work of this committee is set at moving the organization forward in the next few months to become an official club. The advisory committee meets every other Saturday Morning at 10:00 A.M.

The Raffle for the Icom 2100H is going great, with over $50.00 in tickets sold at field day alone. If you have not yet picked up tickets for yourself, or to sell to your friends we urge you to do so at this time. We need your help in selling these tickets as the proceeds will go to support Amateur Radio in Boone County. If your interested in buying tickets call for someone either on 146.500 simplex or the N9HLL repeater 147.105 pl = 77.0 in Lebanon / Boone County Area.

On Thursday Aug 1st, 2002 at 7:00 P.M. The BCARA will be moving it's weekly net. We will be using the 147.105 N9HLL repeater. The purpose of this move is to give us a greater range in the central Indiana area. Keep in mind Boone County hams this is your net, we need your help in supporting and promoting it. There is no I , in ham, it isn't "him" radio operator. If you don't want to support us fine. Keep your mouth shut and sit back and watch us fly. It's hard to soar with the Eagles when you are surrounded by Turkeys.

We still have an active flower fund, contributions can be made at any time to Jimmie, N9VXQ. If you are aware of a Ham who suffers the loss of a family member, or loved one please let us know and we will make a contribution in there honor, on behalf of the local group.

The next meeting of the BCARA will be held on Sunday July 21st at Memorial Park in Lebanon at 7:00 P.M. this will be preceded by a wiener roast at 6:00 . We are currently looking for a meeting site if you have any suggestions please let us know.

I am attempting to keep this newsletter to one page, if you know of a ham or interested person who does not have e-mail, or web access please print off a copy and give to them , or let us know and we will get a copy to them 73's for now JR, N9JSS
