BCARA FIELD DAY 2006

BOONE COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO ASSOCIATION

At the Field Day meeting last night it was decided by the group to accept Dick WD9GYK's offer to set up down at his place. His property is South of SR334 & East of I-65 towards Zionsville, In. Take the exit off onto 334, go East to CR 850 E, turn right. Dick's house is on the West side of 850 E. We hope to have a talk in station for the day, set up on 147.105MHz 77Hz tone required.

We would like to set up 2 or 3 stations, a CW and SSB and maybe a QRP set up as the GOTA station. We may use his exisiting antennas there or set up our own, this has yet to be determined. We will operate from commercial mains. There may also be another Field Day meeting between now and Field Day. This way we can finalize plans and equipment requirements.

More talk will also be done at the BCARA June 14th meeting for Field Day set up. This is short notice for Field Day set up, but the group would like to make plans in advance to minimize any problems. We need to get a list of equipment that will be brought to Field Day. Below is a typical list for a Field Day station. If you have something that will help set a station let me N9VXQ or Tom KB9UWR know what you have available.

#1) HF RADIO, MICROPHONE and KEY

#2) TUNER - SWR - WATTMETER, GROUND ROD 4-8 FEET IN LENGTH AND COAX JUMPERS

#3) POWER SUPPLY - POWER SURGE STRIP - EXTENSION CORD(S)

#4) TABLE LIGHT/LAMP

#5) TABLE & CHAIR

#6) NOTEBOOK, PENCILS, PENS, CLOCK/WATCH OR LAPTOP COMPUTER FOR LOGGING CONTACTS MADE

We hope that you can attend Field Day and enjoy some HF operation and fellowship this year.

BCARA Field Day 2006

Stage One

Getting the Field Day site ready for the event. Dick has offered to let us use his place for Field Day this year. A great big Thanks goes out to Dick WD9GYK and his YL Linda. Dick has been getting the area ready for us. He has it looking top notch from what I have seen so far. I will include some pictures of the site area for Field Day.

This is a concrete pad that Dick had his camper parked on. He pulled the camper off the pad so we can set up one of the Field Day stations on the pad. Close by there is access to water and a home brew toilet. There is also a light pole that's around 75 feet away that will supply us the power for the Field Day stations. Next picture will be of the utility pole.

The next picture is of the adaptation that was done by Dan KC9FVO and Harley KC9GLD. Dick was a big help with getting parts that was needed to finish this project.

This year we are only going to run 2 stations. One for CW and the other for SSB. We may set up a GOTA station for visitors to operate from as well.

Another view of the site from just behind the toilet area, looking into the trees in which the antennas will be hung from.

An up close and personal view of the toilet. We do intend to enclose it for privacy of the occupants sake.

If you have any comments or idea's please forward them to us at BCARA , Thanks !
