There are no Tech Class's scheduled yet for 2012 but if you are a Tech and want to become a General Class ham, the BCARA will be providing a class to become a General.
The class's will be held weekly starting in February, 2012. Class's in the past were
held at the Boone County Senior Services Building (515 Crown Point Dr. in Lebanon). The cost is 25.00 per person and pre-registration is required.

Hams communicate all over the world, both as a hobby and as a participant in emergency situations - when disaster strikes and normal communications - phone, cell phone, and internet go down, Hams can carry the emergency communication load.
Through radio communication - both short and long distance - you are able to meet and talk with others and share your knowledge of amateur radio as well as learn from others. Imagine the thrill of a contact in France, talking with someone in Australia or even communicating with the astronauts in the International Space Station (IIS).
The Boone County Amateur Radio Association - a local Amateur Radio club in Lebanon, IN is sponsoring a Technician Level Licensing Class starting September 11th, 2009. This class is the gateway into the fascinating hobby of Amateur Radio.
The class will cover:
- Amateur Radio basics
- Operating frequencies
- How to make contacts on the air
- Protocol and etiquette
- Basic laws and regulations
- A bit of Radio Theory (don't worry, it's not too technical)
And we hope to finish with a licensing exam at the completion of the course or we will give you a list of local places offering the exam.
Cost: The cost for the class and materials will be $25.00. Additional study materials are available from a variety of sources. Cost for the examination is approximately $14.00
The Class starts on Friday September 11th, 2009 at 6:30pm. It will be at the Boone REMC community room and will go for 6 weeks. The cost of the class is $25.00 which covers the cost of the book.
