What Is The BCARA?

The Boone County Amateur Radio Association, Inc.(BCARA), is an Amateur radio club in Boone County, Indiana.
The club was started by a group of local hams that wanted amateur radio to become fun and interesting for hams in
the county. Formed in 2002, our goals are to promote amateur radio, knowledge, fraternalism, it's benefits to the
community, and to improve individual operating efficiency. We conduct various club programs and activities to advance
the general interest and welfare of amateur radio in Boone County. The club supports and participates in activities,
including Field Day, SkyWarn severe weather nets for the NWS. Individual members are DX'ers, Contesters and like
to Chase S.E.S. Certificates/QSL's. The interests of the local amateurs are varied by their talents.

* Over the past several years the BCARA has operated during ARRL Field Day events.
* Sold tickets for a yearly raffle for club funding.
* Started the weekly social net on the N9HLL repeater of 147.105MHz from Lebanon.
* Start and support the "Fright Night Net" during Halloween "Trick or Treating" hours locally.
* Become Incorporated as a Not-For Profit club in the State of Indiana.
* Held instruction classes for the Technician Class license.

In the future the goals of the BCARA are open for any suggestions. But we need you the amateurs of Boone County to
help us make it happen. During meetings we will offer anyone the chance to openly suggest something that they would
like to see happen with amateur radio in Boone County. This has been happening already and will continue to do so.
Please watch this website for any upcoming events in the future or it's development. The monthly meeting time, dates, and
places are posted on here ASAP. Our goals are only limited to our imagination. We do have several future projects listed
that we hope to accomplish over the next few years.

* Establish a VE testing team.
* Set up a training team for instruction classes.
* Hold testing sessions for licensees.
*Continue to support training for the NWS SkyWarn Severe Weather Spotters.
* To operate special event stations during some of the festivals around Boone County.

Membership to the club is open to all licensed Amateur Radio Operators and for anyone interested in learning more about
this great hobby. Feel free to look around the website to learn more about membership, club meetings, future activities or
